ALL ABOUT DR. K

 Dr. K is  Dr. Mark E. Knauss, Professor of Biology at Georgia Highlands College in Rome, GA.   He currently teaches a nonmajors course in biology, a majors course in biology, a course in General Zoology and a course in Nutrition.  Dr. Knauss has been at Georgia Highlands College since 2002.  Before this, Knauss was Associate Professor of Biology at Shorter College in Rome, GA, where he taught biology, botany, and ecology.   Knauss started his teaching career at Shorter College in 1988 where he was awarded the Teaching Excellence Award in 2000.  It was at Shorter College where Dr. K became affectionatly known as Jam Master K.   Dr. K began his scientific training as an undergraduate biology major at Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA, and then as a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studied seaweeds.   It was at UNC that Knauss made teaching his career priority.

  Knauss has devoted his entire professional career to the effective teaching of college biology, and has consistently received high ratings on his student evaluations year after year.  Knauss is also affiliated with Tutor.com as an online biology tutor, with over 1000 sessions logged.  Knauss lives with his wife and three sons in Rome, Georgia.
